A Meaningful Gift: Continuing a Legacy of Support at Clairview School
There are moments when generosity does more than provide resources: it creates connection, dignity, and opportunity. Recently, that kind of moment unfolded at Clairview School, where two therapy tables were donated by Stephen Hulkster’s Angel Fund.
Clairview serves students with complex physical and developmental needs, much like the needs of Stephen. These are students who benefit from specialized environments, adaptive equipment, and educators who understand how to meet them exactly where they are. For many, access to the right tools can make the difference between passive participation and meaningful engagement……and in this case comfort and safety when things aren’t going so great.
That’s where this donation matters.
Why Therapy Tables Matter
To someone unfamiliar with adaptive classrooms, a therapy table might look simple. In reality, it’s a critical piece of equipment. These tables are designed to support posture, positioning, and accessibility in a way that is hard to achieve in a regular chair. More importantly, a safe and comfortable place for students to decompress when they have a seizure.
While the individual chairs are supportive and great for transportation, when a seizure happens kids need space to recover. They need a gentle space that’s not restrictive. That’s what these spaces provide. That’s what we would have wanted for Stephen.
A Full-Circle Moment
What makes this donation especially meaningful is the connection behind it. Stephen himself once walked a similar path as the students at Clairview, attending the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children.
That shared experience adds weight to this act of giving. It’s not abstract charity, it’s personal. It reflects a deep understanding of what these students need, because Stephen once needed it too.
Through the Angel Fund, that understanding is now being turned into action.
