A Bed That Brings Peace: Addy’s Story

For years, the Kelosky family tried to get something that many families might take for granted: a safe place for their daughter to sleep while traveling.

For Addy, a traditional bed simply isn't enough. Because of her needs, Addy requires a safety bed to help keep her safe from wandering, falling out of bed, and other dangers while she sleeps. Her family knew that having a safe sleeping environment wasn't just a convenience. It was a necessity.

And they had been trying for years to get a travel bed approved through insurance.

They had the doctor’s prescriptions.

They had letters explaining medical necessity.

They had made the case again and again.

But the answer continued to be no.

The reason?

Addy already had a non-travel safety bed at home.

The problem was that Addy doesn't stop needing a safe environment simply because her family leaves home.

Her parents wanted to be able to travel with her, visit family, take vacations, and experience the things so many families enjoy, all while knowing that Addy was safe.

Chelsea Kelosky (mom) saw that Christian received his Zeen walker through us and reached out to Stephen’s Hulksters Angel Fund.

She shared Addy's story with Steve. Wanting to share Addy’s story and what we do at Stephen’s Hulksters, with his family Steve asked Chelsea if he could call her on and put her on speaker phone. Steve wanted his kids to hear and understand the impact we could have on others.

Within 36 hours(!), Steve and his family purchased a travel safety bed for Addy.

After years of trying to find a solution through insurance, Addy's family finally had the equipment they needed.

For the Kelosky’s, this wasn't simply the purchase of a bed.

It meant peace of mind.

It meant being able to travel without constantly worrying about whether Addy would be safe during the night.

It meant the possibility of doing something the family had never been able to do together before:

Taking Addy to the beach!

Chelsea shared:

“Words will never be enough for just how much this means to our family and to Addy.”

And then she added something that perfectly captures what this gift represents:

“Catch the Kelosky's at the beach next year for the first time!”
